Semana Santa or Holy Week is a celebration that dates back to the Middle Ages.  It is a time of religious observance that commemorates the death, resurrection, and passion of Christ.  In the processions the participants known as “penitents”  wear elaborate robes and pointy hoods that once were a symbol of penance
